Georgina May Young (Te Ūpokorehe, Te Whakatōhea, Irish) was born in Ōpōtiki and is based in Ōtepoti. She constructs otherworldly realms layer by layer, thread by thread in celebration of Te Taiao. Her work explores whakapapa, cosmic kinship, and the memories held in whenua, moana, and the stars. A gardener, mother, and textile artist, who moves within ancestral knowledge and imagined futures, weaving time itself—both literally and figuratively. You can find more of her work here and on Instagram.
Georgina writes: ‘Ngāhere Pool 2 is a digital collage of linocut prints and pen drawings. Rooted in daily ritual and a slow life, my practice rejects capitalist excess in favour of deep connection—honouring process, reciprocity, and the mauri of materials. This work could be from an ancient civilisation—carried close, found on a hillside, or unearthed from the mud. All hail mother dirt!’
